Industrial Fire Cast Smoke Over Baltimore Friday
Transportation officials advised drivers Friday afternoon that thick, black smoke could impact visibility due to scrap yard fire.

BALTIMORE, MD — A large industrial fire cast blankets of smoke over parts of south Baltimore Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out at a junkyard in the 3100 block of Weedon Street, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Drivers taking Interstate 895 were advised there may be limited visibility because of thick, black smoke billowing from the scene.

The blaze began when a pile of debris caught fire at the Baltimore Scrap Corp before 3 p.m., according to WBAL.
Commuters on northbound I-895 north of Childs Street were informed they may have reduced visibility as a result, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported at approximately 3:55 p.m.

Those near the Harbor Tunnel were told to expect delays because of the thick, black smoke and firefighting activity, according to the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management.
The blaze was reportedly out by Friday evening.
